A restful start to a wonderful new year!

Getaway Dallas – Tiny Cabins

We brought in the new year with no tv or cell phone service and it was the absolute BEST thing ever! We got groceries for the weekend, packed our bags, loaded up the car, and went on an adventure.

This was our second time visiting the Getaway Cabins in LaRue Texas. It was even better than our last trip! We slept in and ate hotdogs for breakfast. Late Saturday morning we went on a nature hike. Getting lost during our hike forced us to use our critical thinking skills to get BACK to our cabin! Brian had a really good attitude about it all and encouraged me to keep going even when I was ready to give up. I’m SO proud of him. We high-fived at the cabin once the mission was complete.

It ended up being a fun experience that allowed me and my honey (Brian) an opportunity to work together to solve a problem. For me, that moment was the highlight of our trip. It was intellectually stimulating (in a healthy way), and a perfect bonding moment.

In the middle of nowhere, without access to social media, it might not be the most desirable way to celebrate the new year when you’re in your twenties but in your thirties it’s amazing!! We enjoyed our time there and can’t wait to go back! Hopefully, you’ll get the chance to visit too! Enjoy $25 off your first stay with this link: https://fbuy.io/getaway/charitysimmons

Last thing, a few iPhone pictures that we took because I forgot to charge my camera battery. I love how they turned out. Enjoy!

Our view once we finally made it out of the forest

We purchased a Fujifilm disposable camera at Walmart and it brought back memories from when I was just starting out as a photographer using disposable cameras!
